Témoignage de Lisa :
My week of French immersion with Hélène was a truly immersive, educational, and cultural experience! I lived with Hélène, her husband Laurent, and her two daughters Manon and Solène, plus Léo, Manon’s boyfriend, and Kickass, the dog, having my own private bedroom and bathroom. We walked each morning to the boulangerie to get bread and pastries for breakfast, and then after breakfast, the official lessons began. But in truth, the lessons took place all day long, as we spoke French during meals, and during outings, and throughout the day. Hélène is an extremely patient and flexible teacher, and she is also a splendid cook! I came away from my week with improved communication skills (and probably a few extra pounds!). I had a specific interest in improving my listening and speaking skills, and we spoke French all day long, plus she added listening comprehension exercises, which were quite humbling but also very useful. Armed with her list of resources, I continue to listen to and watch French videos and programs at home to work on my oral comprehension. She and her family are very welcoming - they included me in family meals and activities, and Hélène is an excellent tour guide, eager to show off the city of Lyon. We walked through Parc de la Tête d’Or, and we toured the Museum of the Resistance, and she accompanied me to the Musée Lumière, plus we explored La Croix Rousse and drank hot chocolate in a cute cafe on a cold afternoon after walking. She even invited my son who is studying nearby to join us for dinner! I loved seeing Lyon and her French life through her eyes - she is a joyful and fun person, a friend as well as a teacher. If you want to be surrounded by the French language, and a real French family, I would suggest a stay with Hélène!
