I spent a wonderful week chez Hélène in Lyon. Because I wanted a vibrant city, I carefully researched my options about where to stay and Lyon turned out to be a perfect place. Hélène and I made several forays into the heart of the city visiting the famed Basilica, museums and the old part of Lyon. She is a knowledgeable tour guide on the sights and history. I learned so much about Lyon and I will definitely return.
The accommodations were very comfortable, and the private bathroom is right next to the bedroom. Note that the bed is a loft and is reached by about 6 steps up. Hélène is a wonderful teacher and accommodated me with my desire to practice conversation rather than going over grammar. She is modest about her ability to speak and understand English but take advantage of the immersion and try to do it all in French. Her family was lovely and very gracious about having a stranger needing her attention. The wonderful dog, whose name I will leave for you to discover, added to the fun experience.
As is noted in all the reviews, Hélène is an excellent cook, orchestrating a truly remarkable dinner every night with so many different dishes. She's very mindful of your taste or dietary needs so don't neglect to let her know your preferences. She really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience and that was exactly how it was for me.
