Dear Hélène, Laurent, Manon, Solène, and Kickass,
To just say “Thank you very much” is wholly undervalued to express our gratitude, our appreciation, and our love for your family’s warm welcome, your generosity, your hospitality, and importantly, your security during our “Total French Immersion” experience while staying at your lovely home in Lyon. Everything was perfect, particularly the bike tours to Old Lyon, the wonderful daily fresh pastries for breakfast, the salads for lunch, and Beef Bourguignons for dinner. Oh là là ! The long weekend in Ardèche was truly memorable and a highlight of the experience. Thank you for the scenic ride through the mountains, the swimming in the river, the French restaurants including the crepes at the ‘La Crêperie du lac’, the morning walks to the boulangerie, the promenades to the Basilica and the Traboules. (If you want uncover the secrets of Old Lyon, you must go with someone who knows the village – Thank you Hélène !)
Jean and I were particularly touched with the acceptance of all your family, including the family dog, Kickass ! By-the-way, did you know that Kickass is bilingual? He understands both French and English !
One last thanks for all the gifts; the gift of the French culture, the gift of the French language, and in particularly the gift of French Friendship. I truly enjoyed speaking French with all of you. (I really appreciated that you acted as English translators for my wife). Please know that I speak French with more confidence now after spending a week with your family. Merci beaucoup, merci bien ! Until we meet again !
