Hi, my name is Sara and I’m from Houston, Texas. I started taking French classes online with Hélène at the start of the pandemic. I have studied French for approximately five years at L'Alliance Français and have even participated in a language immersion in Nice. I was planning on another immersion over the summer, but couldn’t travel due to Covid. With so much time on my hands and not wanting to lose all of the process I had made, I reached out to a few French teachers online. I worked with three different teachers at the beginning and each had their own style of of teaching. As a teacher myself, it was important to find someone professional but to also enjoy the experience of learning.
I appreciated that Hélène planned our lesson each week and how comfortable she made me feel. We share a Google document where she tailors each lesson to my goals. She leaves me assignments and notes and I can also ask her questions on our document. This makes it easy for me to practice during the week when I have time. Helene understands my goals with my French and we work towards those together, but we also spend a little time having conversations and getting to know each other. If you are looking for an engaging and professional instructor that will make you feel at ease with French, I highly recommend lessons with Hélène. I hope to be able to do an immersion in person soon!
